An open letter to our supporters

At the most recent NRL Annual General Meeting, the NRL formally announced that an expanded competition in 2018 was being investigated and an additional NRL side based in Brisbane would be at the top of that investigation.

This proposed expansion would ensure a win for all Rugby League fans in Brisbane – top flight Rugby League every weekend. Since launching our bid in February 2011, the Brisbane Bombers NRL Expansion Bid (formerly known as the Brisbane NRL Expansion Bid has had this single goal as our entire focus.

A team in Brisbane, called Brisbane, playing for the people of Brisbane.

In building the team, a mantra of four pillars has determined every decision the Bid has made: Community, Integrity, Sustainability and Success.

As we move into our fifth year, we anticipate a formal announcement from the NRL mid-to-late 2015 on expansion, with a license granted for a second Brisbane side into the NRL late 2015 / early 2016 for a 2018 commencement in the League. The Brisbane Bombers NRL Expansion Bid will be one of a number of bidding teams vying for this license into the expanded National Rugby League competition.
As part of our bid, we have been working since 2011 on a bid that would ensure long-term financial sustainability, a grass-roots growth program to provide double the amount of opportunities for youngsters in the South-East Corner, a Corporate Hospitality program that would rival international standards and an Advisory Board with 200 years of corporate experience.

We’ve planned a 5 year development program with a vision to become a valued asset to the NRL competition and, just as importantly, the people of Brisbane. This vision encompasses a comprehensive media, football, corporate, community and financial plan to ensure long-term success, both on and off the field. We have engaged some of the most recognizable names in the NRL to assist our detailed planning and strategies to ensure that the business acumen of the Bid Team is in unison with the strategy of the NRL and ARL Commission.

Having hosted the Storm and Bulldogs in the Pre-Season Charity Cup in 2014, introducing 1300 corporate partners to the Brisbane Bombers and 10,000 fans to our message, we believe the platform built is particularly strong. But the job is far from over. Coupled with Suncorp Stadium as a playing and training base and planned development of a a multi-use facility, state-of-the-art gymnasium and training facilities that would rival the most premium clubs in the world, the Brisbane Bombers NRL Expansion Bid are ready for the NRL competition when the opportunity arises.

The benefits for Brisbane are abounding. A true rugby league local derby – Brisbane v Brisbane…what a Friday night on Caxton Street and a sold-out Suncorp Stadium for a regular NRL Season match. Rivalry at its finest and deepest.

There are some who have journeyed since day 1 with us – we thank you for your patience and support. Even when the notion of expansion was just a dream, we’ve had supporters on the same vision as us. Now that dream is closer than ever to become a reality and we’ve had more supporters join than ever. We thank you for your belief in your Brisbane Bombers NRL Expansion Bid and if we are chosen as the successful bidding team, we look forward to embracing all our supporters.

This will be a team for Brisbane in Brisbane and supporting Brisbane.

We look forward to sharing our journey with you over the coming weeks and months.

Buckle Up.
